Demand Protection of the San Juan Mountains

A trademark of Southwest Colorado’s landscape, the San Juan Mountains are home to pristine alpine lakes, iconic vistas and swathes of aspen and mixed-conifer forests. They offer unparalleled recreation opportunities and provide important ecosystem services to our own home of Telluride and other neighboring communities. Sheep Mountain Alliance, in collaboration with several regional organizations, is gathering support for the San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act (SJMWA), which would protect nearly 60,000 acres of this land from future development. Let Colorado Senators Bennet and Gardner know that you support this bill.
For more information regarding the proposed areas in the SJMWA, check out San Juan Citizen’s Alliance page, here.

Support the SJMWA

We call on Colorado Senators Bennet and Gardner to introduce the San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act (SJMWA), which will protect over 60,000 acres of Southwest Colorado's most iconic mountain range. The SJMWA is the product of nearly ten years of stakeholder input, and has received wide-ranging support from local entities. By introducing and championing this bill, you will help to preserve our local environment and the recreational and economic opportunities that are so integral to our communities.

We urge you, Senators Bennet and Gardner, to join the myriad individuals, business and local governments that have already pledged their support.
