https://vimeo.com/218502282

Please join us for a screening of the documentary Albatross presented by Sheep Mountain Alliance and the Telluride Venture Accelerator Plastics Alternative Boot Camp. This film is a beautiful, gut wrenching story about the damage plastics pollution has on animals and the environment.

The movie will be preceded with presentations by groundbreaking innovators from Telluride Venture Accelerator at 4:00pm. The film showing will start promptly at 5:15pm. Please arrive in time to take your seat.

We will be joined by filmmaker Chris Jordan as well as famed Telluride local, Jim Hurst, who worked on the Academy Award-winning film Freesolo

Telluride was the first town in Colorado to ban the use of plastic bags, in 2010. However cities all over Colorado are still facing barriers to eliminating the use of other single-use plastics like straws, cups, and take-out containers due to a Colorado State law that prevents these bans from becoming laws.

A 2018 State Health department report found that Coloradans generate 9.6 pounds of trash per person per day. Sadly, Colorado is seeing its population generate even more trash than it is recycling, and with China accepting far fewer of our recyclable items than before, the waste is piling up. Plastics are a huge part of this problem. More citizen political engagement and awareness of the impacts of single-use plastics can help move these new laws forward in the State of Colorado, even as they promote behavioural change in consumers.

Learn more about what you can do from Sheep Mountain Alliance and hear from those creating solutions to plastics pollution in the TVA Plastics Innovation Bootcamp event. The entire event is free, although suggested donations of $10 or more will be accepted on behalf of Sheep Mountain Alliance.
