Telluride’s The Watch highlights Colorado Public Lands Bills
Sheep Mountain Alliance’s (SMA) Executive Director Lexi Tuddenham was recently quoted in Telluride’s The Watch newspaper in a story about Colorado’s current public lands bills. Tuddenham highlights the differences among Colorado Senator Michael Bennet and Representative Joe Neguse’s Colorado Outdoor Recreation & Economy (CORE) Act and Colorado Representative Scott Tipton’s proposed Colorado Recreation Enhancement and Conservation Act (Colorado REC Act).
Tuddenham, as quoted in The Watch’s article argues that the CORE Act “is a result of a lot of consensus and a tremendous amount of effort and people meeting over the past decade. I think it’s the best bill for this region.” The CORE Act includes the San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act which stands to protect 61,000 acres in the surrounding forests outside of Telluride.
